As one of Korea’s leading water companies, we work together with government agencies to provide cleaner and healthier water for people.
Since 2015 when we signed an agreement with the Ministry of Environment for the "Safe Groundwater Project", we have provided water purifiers for rural areas with contaminated water resources. In order to improve their access to clean water, we supply water purifiers for 500 households while providing technical support and carrying out research to improve the quality of groundwater. In 2017, we selected households with poor access to clean groundwater and supplied additional 67 water purifiers as part of our social responsibility program.
At Coway, we are working hard to improve access to clean water for low-income families in Chungcheongnam-do, which has the lowest water supply rate in the country. From 2015 to 2020, we will supply 100 water purifiers with a reverse osmosis filter each year for 6 years and free maintenance service up to 5 years for people with little access to clean drinking water.
We are working to prevent global water resource risks by providing rainwater supply systems and carrying out well digging and water purification facilities projects in areas with contaminated water resources and poor access to clean water.
Providing Rainwater Supply Systems in Malaysia
In order to help improve access to clean water in Malaysia, we provided rainwater supply systems. In 2016, we worked with our local subsidiary to install a system in a village with 17 households and 73 family members and monitored its benefit in 2017. We will continue to raise awareness and promote the importance of clean water with the aim to provide rainwater supply systems for 1,000 households in the future.
Digging Wells in Cambodia
Over the past decade, we have provided 1,000 pump wells in Cambodia where people suffer from poor water quality and severe water shortage. As a result, more than 50,000 residents in 14 states have access to clean water. In addition, we conduct regular water quality inspection and raise awareness of drinking water management in cooperation with the RDI which is a local NGO in Cambodia as part of our follow-up activities.
As a leading one-man startup with more than 20,000 employees and Codys/CS Doctors, we share our know-how for success and provide systemic startup training and mentoring programs in startup, marketing and branding strategies through Wi School. Since its foundation in 2016 as part of our CSV project, the Wi School has helped startups and solved youth unemployment while making contributions to our nation’s economic growth.
From the first group of participants, the one who presented a luxury handbag business launched a successful startup, while in the second group, young entrepreneurs with business ideas related to our industry such as health, rental, and cosmetics were provided with opportunities to pursue their business. Scheduled to open in April 2018 for its third participation, Wi School helps more than 100 young entrepreneurs build a foundation for their business each session. We will continue to provide programs and support for those who are preparing to start their own business.
Wi School provides lectures in various fields and organizes mentoring programs tailored to individual needs in a way that differentiates them from others startup support programs. Mentoring programs are divided into three levels according to the level of preparation for startup. It sets goals for each stage and assigns appropriate tasks to help young entrepreneurs prepare for startup in a systematic way.
